TDOT I-440 RECONSTRUCTION

Athena, formerly KS Ware and Associates, performed pavement coring at five locations to supplement previous pavement coring performed by TDOT in the preliminary design development. The field crew advanced and collected pavement cores for the existing concrete pavement and cored through the existing base stone to determine pavement and base stone thicknesses. These field activities were also performed at night and included significant coordination with Kiewit and traffic control to safely complete the services. Throughout the duration of the project Athena assisted with concrete field testing, density testing on base material as well as moisture tests on CTB (Cement Treated Base) using a nuclear density gauge.
