Environmental Geologist

Job Overview:

We are currently seeking an early career geologist/scientist to assist with investigation and remediation environmental projects across the U.S. This position consists of approximately 50% field work. This position requires a hard-working, safe, efficient, and detail-oriented employee that is organized, works well with a team, and is able to work independently once trained. It will require work both independently and with other team members and may require periodic overtime and travel. This position offers an opportunity to learn a wide variety of environmental investigation skills, and work with a great team at a small company that provides excellent benefits.

Job Duties:

  • Asbestos containing materials surveys

  • Lead containing materials surveys

  • Groundwater monitoring

  • Soil sampling

  • Subcontractor oversight

  • Vapor Intrusion investigations

  • Operation, maintenance, and monitoring of environmental remediation systems such as groundwater pump and treatment systems of varying complexity.

  • Field documentation - prepare detailed notes to document the procedures used and take photographs of observations made during field work and/or construction monitoring.

  • Preparing technical reports and figures

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, environmental science, or related field.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 0-4 years experience conducting environmental field work

  • Ability/desire to get Professional Geologist (PG) licensure in Tennessee

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

  • Overnight travel and ability to work outdoors is required

  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record

  • Ability to multi-task with evolving project requirements for multiple ongoing projects

  • Able to work in a high pressure environment with tight delivery deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and properly document field data

  • Detail oriented

    A plus if you have any of the following qualifications:

    • 10-Hour OSHA Construction certification

    • TN ACM Inspector Accreditation

    • TN ACM Monitor Accreditation

    • TN Lead Inspector Accreditation

    • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
