Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer
Job Overview:
Athena is seeking a staff-level geotechnical engineer to support our geotechnical group in Nashville. The primary role for the candidate will be to perform various activities in support of geotechnical investigations. Job duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Execute geotechnical investigations of basic complexity
Coordination of geotechnical field explorations
Field logging of soil and rock core samples for geotechnical explorations, as necessary
Assign geotechnical laboratory tests and review results
Perform geotechnical analyses including shallow foundation bearing capacity and settlement, deep foundation capacities (drilled shafts, auger cast piles, driven piles, etc.), and slope stability
Assist with preparation geotechnical reports and proposals
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geological Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university is required.
Qualifications:
0 to 2 years experience
E.I. or E.I.T certification
Strong writing and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word and Excel)
Overnight travel and ability to work outdoors is required
Routine lifting of up to 50 pounds
