Graduate Surveyor - Full Time

Job Overview:

Athena is seeking a Graduate Surveyor to assist with our growing Geospatial Division. This position is responsible for completing field data collection and construction layout, processing and analyzing geospatial data, the drafting and development of all types of land surveys, record drawings, plans, and reports. Initially, this position consists of approximately 70% fieldwork but will be highly dependent upon project demands.

Responsibilities:
Conduct land surveys and collect data using advanced surveying equipment and techniques
Verify the accuracy of survey data and calculations
Consult with clients and team members to ensure survey projects are completed on time and within budget
Keep current with new technologies, techniques, and regulations in the surveying field
Analyze geospatial data from various sources, e.g., traditional field survey, point cloud, GPR, digital orthophotography, GIS, etc. to develop and prepare plans and reports
Communicate and coordinate with field and office teammates and clients
Organize and coordinate survey projects
Prepare survey documents and computations associated with ALTA, Boundary, and Topographic Surveys, etc.
Prepare survey drawings and descriptions utilizing AutoCAD and other related software packages as directed
Provide construction-related services including correspondence with clients, construction plan interpretation, point data extraction, stakeout reviews, etc.
Review applicable reference materials and location specific statutes and requirements and communicate knowledge with teammates and clients
Review and evaluate project documentation, e.g., field notes, title work, surveys, property descriptions, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge and ExperiencE:
Experience operating survey instruments and collecting data in the field and performing field computations
Knowledgeable in geospatial data collection, analysis and resources
Knowledgeable in the requirements associated with completion of ALTA, Boundary, and Topographic Surveys along with construction staking and GPS
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong knowledge of land surveying principles and practices

Education, Licenses and Certifications
Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related field
Registration as a Surveyor in Training (SIT) is preferred
Ability to obtain a Professional License as a Surveyor (varies by region and state)
Proficiency in using AutoCAD, GIS, and other survey-related software
Strong analytical and mathematical skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Experience with construction and land development projects
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to work outdoors and handle physically demanding environments
Understanding of property law, zoning regulations, and land use planning
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency in using surveying equipment and software
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
