METRO SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Athena performed a geotechnical engineering study and environmental services for Metro Nashville and Davidson County’s new three-story Sheriff’s office facility located near the intersection of South 5th Street and Summer Place in Nashville, TN.  During drilling activities for the geotechnical investigation, soil vapors were discovered in the boreholes in the parking lot areas. Metro requested that Athena perform a Phase II environmental site investigation to determine the nature and extent of any soil and/or groundwater contamination. Athena performed 11 soil borings and converted 3 of the borings into temporary monitoring wells. Soil and groundwater samples were analyzed for petroleum constituents. Sampling was done in accordance with Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation protocols regulating Underground Storage Tanks.
