NRCS-DAMAGE SURVEY REPORT
Athena was tasked by NRCS to provide Damage Survey Reports (DSRs) in relation to hurricane damage in New Hanover County, NC. The surveys and reports were provided in support of the Emergency Watershed Protection Program in response to extensive damage to creeks, drainage structures, and floodplains caused by hurricanes. Services included on-site damage survey of creeks, swales, culverts, floodplains, detention and retention ponds; assessing environmental features, including threatened and endangered species habitat, archaeological features, and biological data; and coordinating with landowners to gain access. NRCS requested that Athena provide personnel and resources as quickly as possible. To meet the NRCS objectives, Athena doubled its on-site resources and worked 7 days a week. Athena used a drone to survey segments of the streams and watersheds to capture data in the most efficient manner.
